A Bit Of This And That

This post is of my finds and also a visit to one of our local garden shops.

All my finds were found at secondhand stores.

This paperweight reminds me of a raindrop or teardrop. It's a great addition to my collection.
The label says:
Dynasty Gallery
For Collectors Around The World
Heirloom Collectibles

This pink and red brooch is an unsigned piece and I believe it is vintage.

Vintage Chip and dip bowls with metal holder and Ruby Red accent.

Yesterday my boyfriend and I went to one of our local garden stores to pick up sea soil potting soil and while there I took the above pictures.

Oranges And Lemons

I've gone with an Orange and yellow theme post.  I've had quite a few items in these colors land in my shopping basket  lately.

The lemonade Pyrex containers I found one with a lid the other was lidless.
The orange Pyrex container I found with the lid.
The four bowls in orange and yellow are all Pyrex bowls.
The small Pyrex dish holding a orange and lemon is on top of a vintage tea towel with oranges and lemons on it.
The tablecloth is also a vintage cloth in excellent condition.

This flower shopping bag is perfect for  going to the secondhand stores I can fold it up in my purse and if I have any items I've bought I have my own bag.

The licence plate is a 1967 British Columbia plate.
The color of the Marigolds worked perfect with my color theme.

These mug holders are something I'm always looking for in different colors.
As I've said before they bring back memories of my grandparents cabin.
The Cups are made in England.

Things I Could Not Leave Behind

Do you ever feel like you are going backwards instead of forward? I feel this way quite often.  Lately for me it's been the weather, a couple of weeks ago I was wearing my Capri's and flip flops then that was done and I had jeans on again and the umbrella back out. Yesterday we had another nice day and I was out working in the yard, it was nice to feel the sun on me.  Of course I live in beautiful British Columbia, rain will again come back but  B.C'ers roll with it.

I notice new life finally starting in my yard.

This delicate lovely plant is Solomon Seal,
this picture is from last year as its actually just started to come up.

I found this double honey pot holder at a local secondhand store,
it was just so special I couldn't leave it behind.

This apron is finished on both sides which gives you two looks with one apron.

I collect paperweights and I saw this one with this cute bulldog on it and it went into my basket.

I love this bag I found another one with a different saying and picture  on it a few weeks back and posted it in my Monday, 11 March 2013 Coffee On My Mind post.   The pink and white small Pyrex bowls are a nice find I'm always happy to find a piece of pink Pyrex it doesn't happen often.  This lovely flower mug has a Spring feel to it and was made in Japan.

These cherry blossoms look so cheery.

Some Blues

In the last while I've found a lot of blue color items and of course I bought them.  I've found all these items in secondhand stores.  My boyfriend is out at the garage sales and flea markets I'm not ready yet it's still a little to wet for my taste.

This piece of art glass is a lovely blue vase I won in a silent auction at a local secondhand store.  It's an unsigned piece.  It reminds me of water hitting something and splashing up.

This flower shaped looking bowl is a piece of Blue Mountain Pottery that I've added to my collection.

I found this piece of fabric and it took me back to my Childhood in the 1970's when my grandparents brought my mom and aunt fabric from Hawaii.  This fabric has the same look and feel as the fabric they brought back.  This piece is a G.V.H. Hawaiiprint an is just under 2 metres.

This is a large vintage chip bowl which is missing the dip bowl and holder.  I have added it to my collection.

This vintage tablecloth was still in the packaging with the piece of paper with the information about it.  I do not believe this tablecloth has been used.

Vintage blue Cinderella Pyrex mixing bowl.

I wanted some blue flowers for my post so I'm using some I took in July of last year in Fort Langley, British Columbia.

A New Addition To My Kitchen

This past week we've had lovely warm sunny days which was good since I had the week off.  I return to work tomorrow, all good things must come to an end.  Easter Sunday was lovely. we went over to some friend's place and watched her young grandchildren do an Easter egg hunt.  I also saw her beehive opened as she and her daughter were cleaning them up.  I hope you all had a wonderful Easter Sunday.

A few days ago we saw this hoosier at a favorite store of mine and Saturday I talked my boyfriend into going back and we came home with it.  It's a great addition to my kitchen we've been looking for one for quite awhile.

This hutch holds my Pyrex which I just rearranged, I do like my Pyrex.  I however hate painting and I am trying to convince myself how badly this hutch needs a paint job to freshen it up.

I decided to turn my built-in spice cabinet into my Fire King mug holder since I don't have that many spices.  I now have to get doors with glass so you can see the mugs to replace the old wooden doors.  I couldn't wait for the doors so you're seeing it doorless.

This Corning Ware casserole dish is called a Buffet Server, it holds up to 7 cups and was in production from 1964 to 1968.  The lid came in different colors between 1965 to 1968.  Mine says Made In Canada.  It's a great addition to my cooking ware.

These flowers are in bloom outside or in my office brightening things up.

Easter's Almost Here

This collage is a collection of finds from secondhand stores and flea markets.  The egg basket and glass egg cups hold eggs I dyed.  Painted eggs are being held in Melmac egg cups.  The chicken egg cups hold eggs which are salt and pepper shakers.  I added the teal and pink Fire King mugs for color.  I also added a Pyrex coffee pot which is missing pieces.  The Baking Soda ad is from a magazine and the apron on the mannequin is from Ikea.

These painted eggs I believe are in the Ukrainian style.

This blue egg cup holder was made in Norway and could be a Figgjo Flint egg cup.  The back two in the same style are homemade egg cups.

This Cicely Mary Barker picture with the fairies holding a egg cup seem perfect for this post.

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter.

A Touch Of Green A Little Late

I thought today was St. Patricks day but no it was yesterday so my green finds are a day late.  So happy belated St. Patricks day.  All the following items are secondhand store finds.

This mid modern looking tea set is made by Arklow in the Republic of Ireland the pattern is " Rhythm" by Pat McElheron.

This green enamel flower brooch is one of three enamel brooches I've found.  I saw an idea of using them to make a flower bouquet on goggle images.

This Pyrex bowl is the Spring Blossom 1 pattern.

This is a vintage Canada Dry Pale Ginger Ale pop bottle.

"What A Wonderful World"
I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.
I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.
The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.
I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.

Written by Bob Thiele (as George Douglas) and George David Weiss

This song was recorded by Louis Armstrong in 1967 it wasn't a hit in the United States at this time but it went up the charts in the U.K.
I was surprised to learn this as I always associate this song to Louis Armstrong right away it's my favorite song by him.
This song I think fits with the thoughts of Spring.
