In The Garden and Finds

This past week has been weird around my place I have not had time to hit any stores though I saw a new store I can't wait to check out but won't be able to do so till next Friday.  Hopefully I will be able to tell you about it on my next post.  On Saturday I had most of my family over for dinner it was a good time which always makes all the work involved worth it.

I'm only sharing one of my new paperweights today.  This one is by Selkirk made in Scotland it's a limited edition 229/450.

I took a walk around the yard this week and snapped  the pictures of my flowers above.

My husband and I both liked the covered stoneware dish above we can't make out the makers name but it was made in Japan.  A friend of mine believes the vase the flowers are in is End Of The Day Glass the vase I inherited from my husbands mother once we got together.

I found the large amber jar a couple of weeks ago and I went downstairs and dug the smaller one out of a box I had it stored in I found the smaller one quite awhile back.

These mugs look like Fire King but have no marks I haven't had time to figure out who the maker is yet.
I like the colors and the design on them so when I saw them I knew they needed to come home with me.

You may be wondering why I have a picture of the Good Year blimp in this post but it's because on Friday August 07th to the 9th 2015 was the Abbotsford Airshow.  I have watched planes fly over the different homes I've lived in for decades but have never attended the airshow I would like to but I don't like crowds much and it's very crowded plus I burn so easy so I have not attempted it.  My dad's cousin took this picture as you can see it had quite a audience as it hovered over a farmers field there's another picture that shows cars way down the road stopped.

Elvis, Marilyn And More

It's hard to believe November is almost over I managed to hit most of my favorite second hand stores this past week.   It's been quite awhile since I've had any time to hit more then maybe one store if at all in a week.

These dishes have a yellow and orange theme going on.  The bowl, salt and pepper shakers were made in Japan.  The mugs are not marked but if I was guessing it would be Japan too.  The yellow glass jar reminds me of ones from the 70's.

I picked up these two Russell Stover Elvis tins and added them to my collection.  The black and white page is a record sleeve to protect a record one side had early RCA album covers of Elvis the other side his later years.

The picture has a Marilyn Monroe calendar, 4 postcards and a book about her.

This blue brooch is unmarked.

I believe this is my grandfather's half sister from England. I don't know anyone from this side of the family.  I've been trying to do a family tree but have not gotten very far.

Thank you for taking the time to visit.

Weddings And Some Finds

This past week has been busy.  My sister and I went shopping, she's my matron of honor so she needs a dress for the wedding and I'm still looking for the right dress. We went for so long without any weddings in the family and in less than one year theres going to be three.  My nephew got married last November, my cousin next Sunday and me in October.  Weddings are everywhere.  I had to drag the fiancé to the men's clothing store or he would go to the wedding next Sunday in jeans and a t-shirt.  I did manage to make it to a few second hand stores.

I almost missed this apron if I hadn't back tracked at the local Salvation Army store it wouldn't have been in this picture.

I have never seen blue Cornflower Corning Ware mugs before so these were a nice find.

These pictures are from a May 01st 1965 advertising section of a weekend Magazine featuring 'Terylene clothing sold at the time in Eaton's stores across Canada.

My nephew had his say on two things at his wedding their wedding cake was Pac man and the shoes he wore.

This is the dress I'm planning to wear to my cousins wedding.

Wedding Update:

I stopped and got some cake samples no luck there the search continues.

Lucy in Langley, British Columbia is my new favourite dress shop I took my sister there and she got a dress to wear for my wedding.

Thank you for taking the time to visit.

Spring Is That You?

It's hard to believe that it's Spring once again since in the mornings everything is covered in a thick frost.  I think Mother Nature needs to tell Jack Frost it's time to go till next year.  Having said that I have to be happy about the sunny days we've been having.

DREAMING OF FLOWERS

I'm not looking forward to yard work since I don't have much free time this year but I am looking forward to the results.  These flowers are from last year.

I found these mugs at a second hand store my first thoughts were the 70's and my childhood.
By Royal Alma Staffordshire Ironstone made in England.

This Volkswagen I saw in the parking lot as I was heading into a second hand store yet again it took me back to my childhood I had to take a picture.

This Pyrex ad is part of a two page ad for different items for sale.

This Cycla-matic Frigidaire ad is in this post because it shows Pyrex refrigerator dishes inside the fridge.

I've decided to personalised my wedding invitations and make them myself the above picture is the result.

In the past week we picked up the Dahlia tubers we ordered last fall we're planning to use the flowers for our wedding.

Thanks for taking the time to visit.

Some Finds And Snow

This past weekend we woke up to snow Saturday morning I can't really complain since we've had some cold weather this year but not much snow.
On Saturday we spent the day with my niece and hit the local second hand stores.  I had a good day and found some good finds.

On Saturday I found this green glass vase at a local second hand store and added it to my collection.  I do not know if this is old or new and it doesn't have any markings.

I thought the two mugs are kind of cheery I couldn't find any markings on them so I do not know where they were made.

The rolling pin was almost a miss but luckily I opened the drawer it was in.
The biscuit tin is a product from Scotland Gray Dunn Biscuit manufacturers established 1853.

This small Pyrex bowl is in the Balloons pattern.  It's not in perfect condition but it's in alright condition.

When I saw this No. 90341 scale 1/24 1967 Shelby GT - 500 model car right away I thought of the 1968 movie Bullitt with Steve McQueen.  In the movie he drives a 1968 Ford Mustang GT.

We have a 2007 Ford Mustang that because of the snow is parked in the garage till the snow is gone.

This is what our yard looked like on Sunday.

Thanks for taking the time to visit.

Road Trip And Local Finds

A week ago Friday we were in Kamloops, British Columbia and had time to stop by some of the secondhand stores.  Some of the finds in this post are from that trip.

The three yellow  Pyrex bowl set is the Butterfly Gold 2 pattern and the white and aqua set is the Butterprint pattern.  The casserole dish is the Town And Country pattern and found at another store.

This single bright cheery green mug caught my eye, it was made in England.

I'm not sure but I'm guessing this may be a cookie jar.  It's marked either 620 copyright U.S.A. or 626 copyright U.S.A. I'm not sure if it's a zero or six.

I'm not sure what purpose this dish serves it may just be a decorative piece on the back it's signed C.A.

Back to my local secondhand stores I found this teapot and mug.

This bag is so me it just said buy me buy me so I did.

The warm sunny weather we've been having this month made me think of this picture.  I can see my grandmother in it, who everyone else is and how she knew them I have no clue.

Sure Buy / Not A Sure Buy

In this post I have items that I knew for sure I had to come home with me but also there are items that I'm still trying to figure out why I walked out of the store with them.

This paperweight was a given, the moment I saw it I knew it had a place in my collection.

These mugs were made in Japan and are the item I'm not sure why I brought them home with me.  I still haven't  decided if I like them or not.

I can remember my mom having hot pads like these ones.  These are not quite my style yet somehow they made it into my shopping bag and came home with me.

These flowers and plant pictures are from around my yard.

This picture is from my boyfriend's late mother's albums.  It may have been taken in Germany sometime around 1900's to before World War 1.

A New Addition To My Kitchen

This past week we've had lovely warm sunny days which was good since I had the week off.  I return to work tomorrow, all good things must come to an end.  Easter Sunday was lovely. we went over to some friend's place and watched her young grandchildren do an Easter egg hunt.  I also saw her beehive opened as she and her daughter were cleaning them up.  I hope you all had a wonderful Easter Sunday.

A few days ago we saw this hoosier at a favorite store of mine and Saturday I talked my boyfriend into going back and we came home with it.  It's a great addition to my kitchen we've been looking for one for quite awhile.

This hutch holds my Pyrex which I just rearranged, I do like my Pyrex.  I however hate painting and I am trying to convince myself how badly this hutch needs a paint job to freshen it up.

I decided to turn my built-in spice cabinet into my Fire King mug holder since I don't have that many spices.  I now have to get doors with glass so you can see the mugs to replace the old wooden doors.  I couldn't wait for the doors so you're seeing it doorless.

This Corning Ware casserole dish is called a Buffet Server, it holds up to 7 cups and was in production from 1964 to 1968.  The lid came in different colors between 1965 to 1968.  Mine says Made In Canada.  It's a great addition to my cooking ware.

These flowers are in bloom outside or in my office brightening things up.

Vintage Valentines

Never My Love
You ask me if there'll come a time
When I grow tired of you
Never my love
Never my love
You wonder if this heart of mine
Will lose its desire fore you
Never my love
Never my love
What makes you think love will end
When you know that my whole life depends
On you (On you)
Never my love
Never my love
You say you fear I'll change my mind
And I won't require you
Never my love
Never my love
How can you think love will end
When I've asked you to spend your whole life
With me (with me, with me)

This whole post contains vintage items the above song has always been a favourite and I think it fits the bill.  The song was by The Association in 1967.

With Valentines day coming up these vintage black evening purses would be great for an evening out.  The fabric in the background is a piece of vintage fabric.  I found all the purses at local secondhand stores.

These vintage patterns look like at one time someone might have made one and worn it out for a Valentines date.  The background fabric is also vintage.  Both the patterns and fabric are from secondhand stores.

This dip bowl is part of a vintage chip and dip bowl set.  The cherry blossom design made me think of Valentines day.

These two mugs I think look like something from the 1970's.  These were made by Royal Alma in Staffordshire England.  The fabric is vintage I found it in a secondhand store in Kamloops, British Columbia Canada.
