A New Year Almost Here

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. We had the family here on Christmas Eve and a good time. I've had a stuffed up nose but no other cold symptoms and on Christmas day I slept the day away.

This morning we've had snow and rain coming down leaving the roads looking like a slurpie was dropped all over. They had a weather warning out last night in our area for freezing rain but that did not happen which I'm quite glad about.

I guess 2015 is trying to go out with a winter blast.
I hope you and your family all have a wonderful year in 2016.

I found this Peak Frean cookie tin at my favorite second hand store awhile back I thought the graphics were quite nice.

The air plant in the picture above was a Christmas present for my friend who has a record of killing indoors plants this may be the perfect indoor plant for her. I found the mister at a second hand store which she can keep with the plant on her kitchen windowsill.

This necklace is a piece of costume jewelry made by Sherman that my husband gave me for Christmas this year.

 Husband Story

For the five years my husband and I have been together, for three different years I have taken him to The Bay and pointed out Issey Miyake L'EAU D'ISSEY perfume, my favorite.  So at the end of November this year I once again took him to The Bay but this time I bought the body lotion and he says to me that I shouldn't be buying things like that before Christmas.

I then mention to him that in past years he hasn't taken the hint.

A week before Christmas I saw a Bay bag on a stool in our family room and went to put it in the recycling but it had the perfume I wanted in it. I guarded it for 2 days since it was on a stool the cats like to be on, then on Monday I mention to him I was glad he got it for me but the stool was not a good place to keep it since I didn't want it to get knocked off and broken.

He then accused me of snooping and threatened to take it back. I then said to him do you want money to buy a gift on ebay or a gift card for Fred's Tackle, he picked money and I said now we're even you know one of your gifts.  Maybe now he might think about his habit of leaving everything laying around (Lol). I got my perfume.

I also got this book on Marbles from him too and a few weeks back he brought home the glass rolling pin with allies in it for me.  I'm always asking him information on marbles which he doesn't know anything about so I guess he thought the book would be a good Christmas gift which it is.

English Moments And Christmas Finds

As Christmas gets closer I am slowly getting ready and I mean slowly. I haven't had much time to hit the the second hand store. I hate to say it but very little Christmas decorating has happened around here.  It's a good thing my cousin is having the dinner this year.  We've been so busy this past month and not home on the weekends.

I was at a small store and one of the trees they had decorated is the one above it has a Dalton Abby theme.  Pictures of the women of the house in white frames, teacups and beads were use to decorated it.

Every Christmas I try to catch the Queen's Christmas message it's become a tradition for me that I enjoy.  I found the above picture of Queen Elizabeth 2nd in 1952 when she made her first Christmas broadcast.  I'm not sure when she began doing her Christmas message on television.  I found the above picture in a book called Princess to Queen by Catrine Clay published by BBC Books copywrite 1996 the picture is on page 177.

This kale plant sits in a container at my front door I get this type of plant every Christmas.  The raindrops give it a chilly look.

From The Family Collection:

I know some of the people in this picture are some of the family in England at Christmas time I'm guessing it could have been taken in the 1950's or early 1960's.

This small angel I found at my favorite second hand store and went through a lot to get her.  Two older ladies with walkers decided everyone in the store could just get out of their way.  We cross paths a few times.  Then two other older ladies (no walkers involved) butted in line while I stood where the sign says to line up.  A bit of a trying moment.

I found these three vintage Christmas cards in some of my mom's Christmas card boxes.

I found this snowflake cookie cutter last year which I have hanging in my kitchen window year round.

I call this picture dancing lights it's the Christmas lights in someones yard.

Thank you for Visiting.

Some Vintage Market And Antique Show Finds

I've been to a vintage market in Maple Ridge and the antique show in Cloverdale in the last two Saturdays.  The following items are some of my finds.

The above paperweights including the one of the Parliament buildings in Victoria, British Columbia I got this past Saturday at the antique show in Cloverdale.  I should also mention my boyfriend bought me the one of Victoria.  The 1st paperweight in the collage is unsigned, the 2nd one has a sticker that says Isle of Wight hand made in England and the 3rd paperweight had a sticker that had been taken off.

This brooch is a piece of costume jewelry made in the U.S.A. by Gerry's.

These Cremax Pyrex plates and the blue canning jar that has been made into a soap dispenser I got at The Olde Farmhouse Vintage Market in Maple Ridge.

More Fall Color Pyrex.
My boyfriend bought me this Friendship Pyrex divided dish at The Olde Farmhouse Vintage Market.
The meat platter and bowl I got at the local secondhand stores.

These tins caught my eye it was like stepping back into the 70's again.  They were made in Japan.

This is a old photo again of my dad's cousin and a friend.

Summer Is Here

Summer and the heat has arrived here in British Columbia the two don't always go hand in hand in July.  I thought I would post things to do with summer.

These are two of seven barrels I have plants in around the yard.

I've added this red Volkswagen to my collection I have in my home office.

These are new and vintage postcards all have a common theme of being at the beach.

I found this brown and white Fire King mug with flowers at the secondhand store the other day.  I've added it to my collection I now have the two above in this pattern.

I was walking out of the secondhand store and just happened to look back in the window and saw I had missed this paperweight so back in I went.

I found this 1976 Eaton's Spring Summer catalogue at a garage sale.  It was fun to browse through it.

I'm guessing this picture was taken in Sechelt, British Columbia but don't hold me to it I could be totally wrong.

Hot Fun In The Summer Time

End of the spring and here she comes back
Hi, hi, hi, hi, there
Them summer days, those summer days

That's when I had most of my fun back
High, high, high, high here
Them summer days, those summer days

I 'Cloud nine' when I want to
Out of school, yeah
County fair in the country sun
And everything, it's true, ooh, yeah, yeah

Hot fun in the summertime
Hot fun in the summertime
Hot fun in the summertime

Hot fun in the summertime

First of the fall and then she goes back
Bye, bye, bye, bye there
Them summer days, those summer days

'Boop - boop - ba- boop - boop' when I want to
Out of school
County fair in the country sun
And everything, it's cool, ooh,yeah

Hot fun in the summertime
Hot fun in the summertime
Hot fun in the summertime

This post made me think of this song which was recorded by Sly And The Family Stone.
