Pyrex And Coat Tree Finds

The following items from garage sales, second hand stores and flea markets have been bought in the last couple of weeks.  I've been falling behind getting pictures and write ups done.

Horizon Blue Pyrex bowl this was found a few weekends ago at the flea market.

Garland Snowflake Pyrex casserole dish found a few weeks ago at the second hand store.

Butterprint Pyrex bowl was found at the flea market this past Sunday.

Butterprint Pyrex butter dish was found awhile back I can't remember were I got it.

This oak coat tree was a flea market find this past Sunday I had just paid for it and someone else picked it up to buy it.  If I had been a couple of minutes later I would have missed it.
My new to me coat tree is holding my bags I've picked up for my second hand shopping.  The hat is a must have on hot sunny days I'm hopeful I'll use it sometime in the near future.

This is the makers plate on my coat tree.

A Look At Glass

I've always liked stained glass windows with the sun shining through it.  I think this is what started me collecting glass.

This bowl was my grandmothers which she gave me many years ago.
It's a ruby berry bowl called Thumbprint.

This blue pitcher and butter dish are carnival glass with the
Thistle pattern made by Moser.

These paperweights are flea market finds.

The pink mug is a1960 undecorated Fire King Mug.

The flower pattern mug is a 1970 Fire King mug the pattern is called Grooving Head.

The last three mugs are 5 inch tall footed mugs which are marked Fire King and Anchor Hocking.  I do not have a pattern name or a year they were made.

Blue Nordic Dinnerware

In our household there will never be a shortage of dinnerware between my boyfriends, his mothers and my sets it won't happen.  I decided to share his mother's pattern today.  The set is Blue Nordic made by J and G Meakin it's hand engraved and English Ironstone.  It's a nice pattern if you like blue and white dishes which we do since we have three different sets in blue and white.

Volkswagon And Coca-Cola Memories

My blog today is a trip of childhood memories that came back to me when I saw this toy Volkswagen bug at the flea market. My uncle had a few Volkswagen bugs that I would get to ride in sometimes.

Then the Coca-Cola ads came to mind when they used the song " I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing".  The bee's on the Volkswagen reminded me of the words in the song "Grow apple trees and honey bees". My dad and I found these ads from the back of a National Geographic Magazines when we were collecting them.  I thought this picture fit with my memories.

I added this Coca-Cola ad also because of what I could see of the car in it a lot of our cars growing up kind of looked like this one.

In The Garden

This old watering pump can be found in my sister's garden.  I think it adds a touch of whimsy.

The Yard

This year has been hard for me and I have had no desire to go out and work in the yard.
So on Easter weekend we went to a local greenhouse to get some plants.

These are the plants I got.

Above is a before picture.

This is a after picture.

This bird feeder was made by some friends after I found a picture of it.
I'm going to have to paint it again this year.

I saw this hosta at the flea market and decided to add it to my hosta collection,
the name grabbed me.

My boyfriends cats are indoor cats but this friend comes to visit
and he or she sits on the narrow brick ledge.

These glass watering balls are second hand store finds
and are going to go into planters to add color.

Clarice Cliff

Clarice Cliff was a industrial artist in the potteries of England her work dates from 1922 to 1963.  Her body of work is incredible.  I love her wilder designs but have had little luck finding any in British Columbia.  We did find the following plate at the flea market.

                                         Confederation Series Canada
                                         Royal Stafford Ceramics
                                         Burslem England
                                         Montreal circa 1760

I also have the following books on her work:

Taking Tea With Clarice Cliff

Clarice Cliff For Collectors

If your into dishes and have not heard of Clarice Cliff a good place to view her work is on eBay in the UK.

Pyrex In Fall Colors

As usual these Pyrex mixing bowls are second hand store finds except for the orange one which was a Christmas gift from my boyfriend.  The polka dot material in the background I picked up at the second hand store, I thought it was a fun look and would make a great background.  I must admit I've seen this look on other sites and thought it looked good.

On The Counter

Linking to

The following finds I can see being part of an Easter window display which is what I've done with them.  I couldn't get a good picture of the display or I would have posted it.  I also can see them in an old farmhouse kitchen being displayed on the counter.

WIRE EGG BASKET
This wire egg basket would be great for a child to use Easter morning to put their Easter eggs in as they find them.  Also you could head out to the hen house to collect your farm fresh eggs.

SALT AND PEPPER SHAKERS
This salt and pepper shaker set has a dual purpose you have the eggs which are the salt and pepper shakers sitting in the chickens which are the egg cups.

Pyrex Finds

These clear Pyrex mixing bowls with a red cherry and checker pattern are again a second hand store find.  When I saw these bowls I thought of an orchard full of cherry trees and the bowls full of cherries.

These small stackable fridge containers were found in second hand stores, flea markets and antique markets.  I still have one more lid to find for the white container.

From The Family Pictures

I love old family pictures since they make up part of our history when they've been passed down to us.  This picture yet again comes out of a box I know nothing about, but it reminds me of an old farm house and spring with the tree in bloom.  Can't you picture children running around looking for Easter eggs.
