Canada Day 2012

Today is Canada Day and I can honestly say I'm proud to be a third generation born Canadian.  This post is on things to do with Canada or the red and white colors in our flag.

The white bowl set with red dots and the white mug with red lines are Fire King the rest of the dishes are Pyrex.

This red brooch would be perfect to wear to a red and white party on Canada Day.

These beautiful old postcards are all scenes of Banff, Alberta.
1st Postcard
Mt. Rundle, Altitude 9665 Ft., Banff National Park.
2nd Postcard
Banff Springs Hotel, Banff National Park.
3rd Postcard
Peyto Lake beside the Banff / Jasper Highway.

I want to wish my neighbours to the South a Happy 4th Of July I thought this red, white and blue brooch seemed like the perfect fit to go with this wish.

British Finds And More

On Monday May the 20th its Victoria Day here in British Columbia, Canada so I thought I would post some British items I have found.

This lovely cup and saucer is by Alfred Meakin of England.  The only thing I could find the pattern being called was Bird and Flower.  If you know the pattern name I would love to know what it is.  I found the teabag holder at a local secondhand store, I've never seen one like this so I had to buy it.

Plates of the Royal Family
From left to right

Top:
King George the 5th and Queen Mary 1910 - 1936.
King Edward the 8th January 20th 1936 to December 11th 1936 when he abdicated to marry Wallis Simpson.
Bottom:
King George the 6th and Queen Elizabeth 1936 - 1952.
Queen Elizabeth the 2nd and Prince Phillip 1952 to present.

The first picture is postcards of Queen Elizabeth the 2nd and her family.
The second picture is of a biscuit tin of Trafalgar Square and in front is a toy model of a double decker bus, Harrods delivery truck and a mini.
I found the photo of King George the 6st and Queen Elizabeth on tour in Vancouver, British Columbia May 24th 1939 in an old album I found in a local secondhand store.
I was at a flea market when I found this tray of Queen Elizabeth the 2nd.  The vendor who I bought it off of is one of my favourites to barter with.

This paperweight was a garage sale find.  It does have a sticker on the bottom but it is to faded to read.  It's a great addition to my collection.

The two yellow Pyrex dishes are the small dishes from the refrigerator set I found both with the lids.  The salt and pepper shakers in Corning Ware in the Blue Cornflower pattern.  And a Corning Ware 4 Cup Starburst coffee carafe.

A Look At Orange

The following is a look at different items that are all in orange.

This necklace was a flea market find and is a signed piece of Coro.  A brief  history on Coro this costume jewelry company was started in New York in 1901 by Emanuel Cohn and Gerald Rosenberg.  The company closed in 1979.  Over the time they operated they would use many marks.

This orange tray with it's flower design and bold colors was a garage sale find on a road trip last year.  It reminded me of the 70's and something my grandmother would have had at the cabin.

This orange Pyrex bowl was a second hand store find it's a two tone bowl with the bottom a lighter orange than the top.

The soup bowl by Fire King dates back to around the 1960's and is Peach Luster Ware.  This ribbed soup bowl was a gift from a friend.
