A Walk In The Rain In The Garden

Well we are finally getting a fair bit of rain here in the Fraser Valley in British Columbia and believe me I`m not complaining.  It`s nice not to have to water everything.  This past week I`ve been tired but I`ve just gone from one shift at work to a totally different one so I`m guessing it has something to do with it.  I managed to hit a couple of second hand stores yesterday but didn`t find that many items.

I took the picture of the church above a few years back it`s located a few miles down the road from the house I grew up in.  It kind of fit my mood today so I thought I would put it in this post.

A Walk In The Rain Around The Yard

Yesterday I took a walk around the yard and snapped these pictures of things growing there.

This mug is Watcombe Devon Motto Ware England.
My grandparents had a plate in this pattern on the wall in their cabin.

The mug reminds me in a way of something Clarice Cliff would have done and since finding pieces by her are hard to come by here in British Columbia  I thought I would get it when I saw it even if it isn`t by her.

I recently came by these books by Mark Twain at the same time in my favorite second hand store I wonder if it was someone`s collection or just ended up there at the same time by chance.

I of course know the story of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn but have never heard of Tom Sawyer Abroad.
The last book with a picture of Mark Twain is ``A Treasury Of Mark Twain The Greatest Humor of the Greatest American Humorist.

These Allies are part of my glass collection it`s always nice to find them in bags of marbles I pick up at the second hand stores.

A Drive And Finds

This post has some pictures from a drive we took last Sunday.  And some finds found at the secondhand stores.

I stopped on a country road and picked up some flowers at this stand.

These pictures are from the drive.

This collage is a blast from the past with this dress.  I'm guessing it's from the late 1960's or early 70's.
The chip bowl is missing the dip bowl and holder but I thought it would make a good salad bowl.
The pineapple looking candle is in colors I like and was kind of different.

This mug was made in Sadler England I'm guessing late 1960's or early 70's.

These leather purses remind me of ones I had as a kid in the 1970's.

This is the middle size in the refrigerator set I believe it's the Butterfly 2 pattern.

I've finally got four wheels in the garage.  I've wanted a gardening wagon for awhile.  I found this one last week at a secondhand store.  Sadly my truck still sits in the driveway.

A Walk Through Fort Langley

We're renovating our house right now so a little tranquillity would be great but instead I have a house that looks like a hurricane has blown through.  The following pictures of Fort Langley were taken a few weeks back when things were still calm and neat around home. My camera is taking place of buying thrift this week, instead I have pictures of vintage and historical items.

From left to right:
1st Row:
- An old wheel that has been made into a gate used by one of the businesses.
- Fort Langley Community Hall since 1932.
- This bedding plant is an Allium plant which is a flowering onion.

2nd Row:
- I believe this is a luggage cart which is one of the exhibits outside the old CN railway building.
- Some Honeysuckle found growing.
- This lovely old white house has been converted into businesses.

3rd Row:
- This old church is The Parish Of St. George which is an Anglican church in Fort Langley.
- This is a shot of the sidewalk and some shops along the main street.
- These flowers where found on the sidewalk outside one of the shops.

We had a lovely day and a wonderful walk around though it was the 1st of July (Canada Day) so we didn't make it to the Fort a historical site which was originally used by the Hudson Bay Company during the fur trade.
