A Beautiful Day Outside

This past week has been quite busy we've been preparing for a garage sale we had this past Saturday.  We were up and out setting up by 5:30 a.m. it was a lovely sunny day and we got rid of a lot of stuff.  The big seller was the fiancés fishing gear he was selling pieces he had upgraded.  We made a nice profit to put towards our honeymoon.

Garage Sale

I really didn't get a chance to take pictures after we set up as our first customer showed up an hour and half early.  These pictures are of some of the things that didn't sell.

Around The Yard

The above pictures are from around the yard, some family collection photo's and garden art.  You may notice two of the pictures from the family collection have been posted before but I had to show the fiancés watering technique one more time.  The photograph of the little girl in the yard by a wooden chair is being posted for the first time.

Back To the Hoosier

The Back To The Hoosier pictures did not turn out as well as I would have liked so I apologise for these pictures.
You never know what theme will show up in my Hoosier this time it's more of a look back at childhood.

A Canadian Moment

I would like to highlight this one book in the Hoosier this time about Wop May who was a Canadian pilot who has an impressive aviation history but I'm just going to mention two events he's know for.

In the first event it's kind of fitting the book is beside a model plane like the one the Red Baron would have been flying as it was Wop he was chasing the day he was shot down and killed in World War 1.
Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen (The Red Baron) was killed April 21, 1918.

The second event happened in January 1929 when a Diphtheria Epidemic broke out in Fort Vermilion in Northern Alberta.  They needed a way to have to deliver the anti - toxin.  Wop and Vic Horner agreed to deliver the anti - toxin but the only plane available was a Avro Avian which was a light open cockpit plane with no heating.  These men would be flying in temperatures of -30 Celsius weather can you say human Popsicles.  They had setbacks but they flew the 912 Kilometre mission and because of these men`s bravery only one person was lost to the epidemic.  This event has gone down in history as "The Happy New Year Mission".

If your interested in knowing more information on this event and others that make up Wop May`s life I encourage you to look him up.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by.

  2. Hello Denise,

I do not like people showing up so early. They scoop up the "good" deals. Thanks for sharing your blue today.

    Happy Blue Monday!
