Summer is at an end and Fall with all it's color has begun. The leaves are slowing falling from the trees to the ground. As a kid I remember being outside in a sweater on cool sunny days and people would be burning leaves. Fall is a favourite season for me it's the beginning of many celebrations to come. I think it's a beautiful time of the year.
I have a thing about flower frogs and I've been adding to my collection slowly. The collage is of different types that are out there to be found and collected. The picture with the flowers has the flowers being held up by one of my flower frogs.
Row 1
- A larger and smaller green metal flower frog.
- These I believe are Fenton flower frogs.
Row 2
- Pink ceramic flower frog.
- Clear glass flower frogs.
Row 3
- Amber glass flower frogs.
- Black glass flower frog.
Row 4
- Glass flower frogs in holders.
- Green glass flower frogs.
I was going through a local second hand store when I found this Pyrex Lemonade container. Unfortunately the lid was missing. I'm on a hunt for a lid.
'Fall, Leaves, Fall'
Fall, leaves, fall, die, flowers away,
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow,
I shall sing when night's decay
Ushers in a drearier day.
Emily Jane Bronte
From the family collection:
This fireplace is from the family cabin built in the early 1940's by my grandparents. My grandfather hauled the stone for this fireplace from the rock quarry a couple of miles down the beach from the cabin. In the fall this fireplace plus a wood burning stove would heat the cabin. We no longer have the cabin but I have many good memories of my time spent at it.

What a wonderful collection of flower frogs! I have 3, I think. They are so fun! I have a Pyrex like that only with a blue pattern. They are very good to use...easy to handle! Happy VTT!

What a terrific collection of flower frogs! I never knew there were so many kinds! I have one that was my mothers which I treasure.
ReplyDeleteHave a great VTT :)
Love the flower frogs. I love all the different varieties! When I find pitchers like yours, the tops are always missing!! Good luck on finding a replacement, but you never know it could be at the next stop!. Happy VTT!
ReplyDeleteWho knew there were so many different Flower Frogs....nice collection and unusual...I'll be on the lookout for them now. Enjoyed your poem and the fireplace. I'm always ready for Fall even though it's usually not cold enough for a fire in Texas until winter. Visiting you from VTT. Hope you'll have time to stop by CITexas Gal and see my Fall Family Heirloom Find. It's a vintage piece that is once in a lifetime find.
ReplyDeleteWhat great finds and I love the bouquet!
ReplyDeleteI used to enjoy burning the leaves. Not anymore. Where I live that is not permitted. You just rack or mulch and enjoy the falling leaves.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to see your frog collection. Amazing all the different types. It was fun to hear from another Where Angels Go, Trouble Follows fan. I have never heard of or seen that movie since I saw it back whenever it was I did as a kid. Last I checked at our library, they didn't have it. I'll have to keep looking and watch it again. Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment. I do appreciate hearing from you!

Your pitcher is very nice. I wonder if it originally came with a set of juice glasses. I have one frog--blue luster with the dish that it fits into, and it belonged to my grandmother. You have a wonderful collection! Linda
ReplyDeleteYou have a fabulous frog collection! I'm a wee bit envious! I love the smell of leaves burning and of fires in fireplaces. Perfect Fall seasonal smells!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining in this week.

I think you have a splendid collection of flower frogs. I have several glass and metal ones but not as many as yours. I find the metal ones very useful. Visiting from Claudia's, Olive

Wow!! Look at all those frogs!!
ReplyDeleteLove your flower frog collection! And I used to raise dahlias - when I dug them up for the winter, I used to get the tubers mixed up, then the next summer would be quite a surprise!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection of flower frogs. I have a couple of Fenton pieces, but no frogs. Love the story about the fireplace. Great to have such wonderful memories to cherish. Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

That collection of flower frogs is amazing! and I love that lemonade pitcher. I recall we had one with oranges on it when I was little. And what a lovely fireplace! It's so wonderful you have a photo to go with your memories.
