Finds, The Garden And Father's Day Is Coming

I saw this poster at work on the wall and took a picture since it sums up pretty much how I feel.  Things have been crazy around my place and I'm slowing down in the getting things done category.  The husband's and my work schedule are about to get really crazy so getting things completed may take even longer.

I recently bought the vintage cat glasses and sunglasses and was in a bit of a crazy mood when I took the pictures which is the reason for the mixing of fabrics it just seemed the way to go.

The last couple of weekends have been spent in the garden I took a walk around the yard this morning and took these pictures of some of the plants.

It's been a long time since I've gone to a second hand store and on Saturday we stopped at my favorite store it was half price for all color tags.  I found the cute little tea strainer and the Pink gooseberry pattern Pyrex dish and was surprised to get it.  The paperweight my husband found at the flea market for me this morning.

The Husband Corner:

The postcard in the top picture is what my husband would like to be doing every day of the week.  The fly fishing tie is the tie he wore for our wedding.  He grudgingly agreed to track down a tie that met with my approval and wear it at the wedding.  He was quite happy when people kept commenting positively about his tie.  The two books are Hardy's guides his all time favorite fishing gear company.

Father's Day

Since I won't be posting again till the evening of Father's Day I wanted to wish all the fathers out there a Happy Father's Day.
My dad loved old cars the 1928 Ford Model AR was his first old collector car when he got it, it was a shell he didn't actually get to do the restoration work on it as he was having chemo treatments at the time the gentleman who did the work was kind enough to do it in my dad's garage so when he felt up to it my dad could be there.
His next car was the 1966 Chevy II Nova which my mom still owns.
I found the 76 antenna ball in my moms stuff so why not add it.
My dad's favorite song when I was young was Chantilly Lace by the Big Bopper I've added a link if you would like to listen to it.  The Big Bopper like my dad left this world way too early.

The above photographs are from my husband's family photo's and I picked them with Father's Day in mind.

Thanks for taking the time to drop by.
Have a great week.

Glass, Vintage Fabric & Postcards

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter holiday.
Time is going fast around our place doing projects, but the projects are not going very fast.
I can't wait to finish the house projects so I can hit the second hand stores once more.

These paperweights were gifts from my husband.

I was given the above dishes by my aunt.
The white bowl is  Pyrex which is holding a Hydrangea plant in it.

I decided to put this Anne Taintor picture in this post since the pink casserole dish in the oven looks like a Pyrex dish.

The above collage is of vintage fabric.

These are slightly weird looking postcards.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by.
Have a great week.

Christmas Is A Coming

This year I'm doing a little better with decorating for Christmas.  We do have the outdoor lights up, the Hoosier is almost decorated and a few garlands have gone up.

A little so far but way more then nothing going up, last year it was just not a good decorating year.

Don't get me wrong we had a good Christmas, my cousin did the family dinner so there just wasn't as much pressure to go all out.

I took the picture of the barn  about 15 years ago, I saw it while  driving down the road one winter day.

Country Christmas

Snow is falling faster now
And dusting on a hill.
Skaters on the river,
Gentle dancers in the chill.
The children's laughter ringing,
As they overturn there sleighs,
Waiting for a country Christmas day.

The chimneys hold the promise
Of a friendly fire inside.
And so it's after bedtime,
All the children's eyes are wide.
There might be cakes and short bread
On a shiny silver train,
Waiting for a country Christmas day.

Christmas in the country,
Like another time and place.
I see it in the little things,
In every smiling face.
It's crystal nights and far of lights
And children count the days
Country Christmas and love will lead the way.

Dogs run after snowflakes,
In a never ending chase.
Soft lights trough the window,
Foster's dalycurtis lay's
And reunited love ones
Who've been far to long away,
Waiting for a country Christmas day.

Christmas in the country,
Like another time and place.
I see it in the little things,
In every smiling face.
It's crystal nights and far of lights
And children count the days.
Country Christmas and love will lead the way.
Country Christmas and love will lead the way.

I found this song on Roger Whittaker's album A Time For Peace.

The above pictures are all outdoor shots the blue Christmas ornaments are part of our outdoor decorating.  The top right picture is of my grandfather shoveling the snow off a building roof.  The bottom right picture is of outdoor Christmas lights from a friends yard.

This picture is out of a book I picked up at a second hand store of Anne Taintor pictures.

I collect old record covers for the art work, the ones with the bows are part of the Firestone Christmas record collection.  The one in the middle in the top row is Hank Snow, an old bus, snow, a Canadian in a Hudson Bay coat - what can't you like!

I started my search for the soundtrack for White Christmas and this Bing album is as close as I got. I just couldn't leave Gene Autry and Rudolph behind.

I saw these starburst tree ornaments and thought they would be a good addition to my tree collection.

I can remember selling these candles when I was in school, every time I see them I just can't leave them behind.

Thanks for visiting.
