Elvis, Marilyn And More

It's hard to believe November is almost over I managed to hit most of my favorite second hand stores this past week.   It's been quite awhile since I've had any time to hit more then maybe one store if at all in a week.

These dishes have a yellow and orange theme going on.  The bowl, salt and pepper shakers were made in Japan.  The mugs are not marked but if I was guessing it would be Japan too.  The yellow glass jar reminds me of ones from the 70's.

I picked up these two Russell Stover Elvis tins and added them to my collection.  The black and white page is a record sleeve to protect a record one side had early RCA album covers of Elvis the other side his later years.

The picture has a Marilyn Monroe calendar, 4 postcards and a book about her.

This blue brooch is unmarked.

I believe this is my grandfather's half sister from England. I don't know anyone from this side of the family.  I've been trying to do a family tree but have not gotten very far.

Thank you for taking the time to visit.

REMEMBER The 11th Month, 11th Day, 11th Hour

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day here in Canada which is a time to show we remember all the sacrifices our military people have and are making to keep us safe.
So as I've said in past post to those who served and didn't make it home thank you, to those who made it home thank you and to those serving now thank you.

This mural is one of many found around Chemainus, British Columbia that I took on my honeymoon  it's on the post office building.

These poppies are some of the different types I grow in my yard.

Remembrance Day

I'll remember the soldiers that fought,
I'll remember my freedom was bought.
I'll remember the soldiers that died,
I'll remember the families that cried.
I'll remember some were shot,
I'll remember some got caught.
I'll remember all the crosses,
I'll remember the sad, sad loses.
I'll remember no man's land,
I'll remember the praying hands.
I'll remember!

Back After My Wedding

I can't believe how fast time has gone by since my last post.  I got married, it was a very casual wedding but I was surprised how much work it took.  The whole summer was taken up with wedding preparation.  September was spent tying up last minute things for the wedding in October.  It was worth the work as so many of the guests told me it was one of the best weddings they had been to.  We enjoyed our wedding but I'm glad it is over.

HONEYMOON  PHOTO'S

The above pictures were taken on our honeymoon on Vancouver Island in British Columbia Canada.

The above vase and paperweight I bought on our honeymoon at Robert Held's glass gallery to add to my collection.
The vase I picked because I like poppies and the frost made me think of snow which appealed to me.  The paperweight is different from any I have in my collection including the ones I had already by Robert Held.

The blue Pyrex bowls my husband found for me at the flea market, the pink refrigerator dishes he spotted at the local second hand store and I bought for a really good price.  The large refrigerator dish with the green Butterprint pattern in the middle of the collage we found the same day we got back from our honeymoon.  I knew Butterprint came in turquoise, pink and yellow but didn't know it came in green till now.
