Take Me Home, Country Roads
Written by John Denver, Taffy Nivert & Bill Danoff
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains Shenandoah river
Life is old there
Older than the trees
Younger than the mountains
Growin' like a breeze
Chorus:
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home country roads
All my memories gathered 'round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine
Teardrops in my eye
Chorus:
I hear her voice
In the mornin' hour she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
And drivin' down the road I get a feelin'
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday
Chorus:
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
Take me home, now country roads
Take me home, now country roads
The above picture always makes me think of the song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver. This long weekend in Canada has many people on the roads for Thanksgiving. To all Canadians Happy Thanksgiving. We had our family dinner during the weekend so today is all about relaxing.
I decided to look up John Denver's bio and found out he died October 12, 1997 I didn't actually think it had been that long ago.
I found this chip and dip bowl at a secondhand store and added it to my collection.
The basket of yellow Petal Ware dishes by Grindley my boyfriend found for a friend of ours a few weeks back. I found the honey pot at the same time we got both at The Olde Farmhouse vintage market.
This is my Pyrex share this week it's Town and Country pattern.
This baby painting was done by George Lorimer Keirstead he was a unknown artist who from what I can tell did it as a hobby.
A couple of weekends ago we saw this Nissan Pao which I thought was so cute so I had to take a picture.
Thank you for visiting, hope you enjoyed my finds and treasures.
Denise

ReplyDeleteThat's a cute little blue car! Reminds me of the European cars 20 years ago:)
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for a honey pot. Which is odd because I don't even like honey!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to Magpie Monday x
What a sweet picnic basket. I sold a picnic basket recently on Etsy to a couple eloping and having a picnic in the woods in Colorado! I also saw a hanging lamp with your gold floral bowls recently:)
ReplyDeleteJohn Denver sadly gone before his time, Take me Home Country Roads so reminds me of this time of year. I like your ever changing header.
ReplyDeleteLovely pyrex and honey pot. I think that baby is scary though.

ReplyDeleteHi Denise,
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you from PEI! We all liked John Denver and I love that song. You found some wonderful things; love the picnic basket filled with the soft yellow dishes. Love that little car too. Thanks for sharing at my HOME and enjoy the weekend.

Wow, I've never seen that pattern of Pyrex..Love the Chip/Dip....and the Beehive Honey Pot..I thinks is a Stuckey's piece.
ReplyDeleteStuckey's was a place travelers would stop for fudge, pops, and souvenirs...like the Honey Pot.
Love those Town & Country dishes ... and that John Denver song. My mother used to sing 'Country Roads' in the car on long drives between Ontario and New Brunswick. One of my favourite childhood memories. Similar rolling hills in Vermont and NB, and that same lovely scenery!
ReplyDeleteWonderful finds! Thanks SO much for sharing at the Frugal Crafty Home Blop Hop! Have a wonderful weekend!
