Reminders Of My Grandmother

This past weekend my cousin came out on Saturday and we got in the car and hit 7 local secondhand stores and 9 in the surrounding area.  We even managed to get lunch in between.  The only problem with my cousin and me going together is we both like a lot of the same items.  It's a challenged to see who gets through the door first and who finds the things the other one would like first.  We're at the point now were we say if you don't get it I will.  Boy did I get a lot of stuff.  As soon as I get the pictures done I'll post my finds.

These plastic containers reminded me of my grandmother.  I'm not sure why they do they just do.

This pamphlet I found in my grandmothers stuff it's B.C. Electric Home Service News from October 1948 it has recipes, tips for sending things overseas for Christmas and things they might like for Christmas in England since there were still shortages because of the war.

                                                                              More Fall Color Pyrex.

This small blue art glass vase I found at the local flea market.  It has no markings the lady who sold it to me said it is Yugoslavian glass.

This brooch is unsigned but made me think of Fall.

I found this biscuit tin and thought with the ducks on it, it would be good to get to use in a Fall display.

I do not know who's in the car but I'm guessing the car might be a Ford at Central Park in New York 1916.

The little girl is either my boyfriends mother or her sister.

Thanks for visiting.

  1. The blue glass piece is lovely! I would have snapped that up, too.

  2. That cobalt blue art glass is making me drool. Thanks for sharing, Denise.

    Happy Blue Monday!

  3. Lots of lovely stuff you found! Love the blue glass, it's so distinctive.

  4. Since I moved out of the four bedroom home I rented for 14 years and started spending half of every year in India, I avoid second hand stores like the plague. I am paying $400/month for storage for the thing for which I couldn't bear to part.

My post today is about the colorful Jaipur puppets.

  5. I love all your finds. My favorite is the brooch. I would so wear it.

  6. You found that fall colored Pyrex at the perfect time, didn't you? Looks great!

  7. I have the divided casserole with gold leaves also! I found it at a thrift store for around $5 with the lid! Mint condition!

  8. I had such a giggle of you and your cousin fighting to get through the door first. It reminded me a little of my sister and I. We have a shop that we visit that makes us hyperventilate, but we have to make an effort to slowly and methodically move around the shop in a clockwise direction completing the circuit first....then we make a dash and grab for the things we want!
You have some wonderful finds there...I adore old black and white photographs :D the way just between you and name is Denise too, although I use Neesie for my blog ;D

  9. Love it all...especially that gorgeous vase.

  10. I always enjoy seeing Pyrex and your finds were really good ones. Love the blue glass vase also. Thanks for sharing your thrifty finds at TTF!

  11. I love the canisters and of course, the Pyrex! That vase looks very expensive to me, great find. Thanks so much for joining my We Call It Olde Link Up. New one starts tomorrow, hope to see you there. Take care - Dawn @ We Call It
