Elvis And My Great Aunt

On Friday my boyfriend and I headed up to Kamloops, British Columbia we attended my Great Aunts Memorial Service Saturday morning.  It was a sad occasion but you could see and hear so much love for my Aunt around you.  As I listen to peoples memories I was surprised when they collided with my memories.  I also tried to pictured my Aunt and her sister hitchhiking to the nearest garage when their car broke down on their way to Kamloops.  I also found out that one of my cousins had no idea till this past week how big of a Elvis fan she was.  She even managed to have her second child on Elvis' birthday.  And yes of course she made it to Graceland  and she had a great time.  As someone said in their their tribute to my aunt she probably has my uncle running around up there looking for Elvis.  Whenever you got to my Aunt's door there was a warm welcome and before you got past the door you heard "where's my hug".  You know how they say Elvis has left the building, well my Aunt has left the building but she left us with her love for family and friends and many memories.

The above collage is of Elvis items an apron, a card in a picture frame and music C.D.'s, Elvis Purse and Elvis fabric.

We did hit the secondhand stores on Friday when we were in Kamloops when I have the pictures done I'll have them in a upcoming post.

I saw this mug, it reminded me of The Brady Bunch. I could see Carol Brady and Alice using something like this mug when having coffee.

I found this Horizon Blue casserole dish minus the lid at a local secondhand store, I went home and found a lid.  In the background are jadeite and teal Fire King Mugs.

This brown leaf vintage chip and dip bowl I found with two dip bowls and holders. I've added it to my collection.

This Pyrex casserole dish is the first one I've found with a stand.  I don't know what pattern it is if you do feel free to let me know.

Update: Jill who writes the two blogs The Pyrex Collective and A Little Bit of Everything identified the pattern as... Golden Wreath. Thanks Jill.

This is also the first Pyrex ad I've found, you might have noticed the above casserole dish is in the ad.

  2. I loved "E" too, but I've never been to Graceland. This is a nice tribute to your aunt; she must have been special to many.

  5. What a lovely tribute to your Aunt! Elvis certainly has many fans, and their loyalty is unyielding it seems. I've been to Graceland, and have to say I was a bit disappointed. At the end if the day, Elvis was a simple guy with simple needs. A peanut butter and banana sandwich was his idea of heaven, and he didn't have much use for fancy food or furnishings.

    Great Pyrex collection!

  15. Jill knows her Pyrex. I found one the same shape in a stand a while back. Mine has a bird on it and the design is blue. Not sue the name of it. I need to ask Jill. lol! The ad is awesome. I have never seen one before. Especially fun that it has your new casserole dish in it. I loved Elvis when I was a young teen. Watched all of his movies. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,

  16. What a nice tribute to your Aunt - it is funny how there are things about our loved ones that some may not know. My Mom went to an Elvis concert with her sisters when she was a teen - she loved him too! Gorgeous mug, does remind me of Carol Brady! How cool! I am delighted that you shared with Home and Garden Thursday,
    Kathy
