Summer's End And Fall Begins

Summer is at an end and Fall with all it's color has begun.  The leaves are slowing falling from the trees to the ground.  As a kid I remember being outside in a sweater on cool sunny days and people would be burning leaves.  Fall is a favourite season for me it's the beginning of many celebrations to come.  I think it's a beautiful time of the year.

I have a thing about flower frogs and I've been adding to my collection slowly.  The collage is of different types that are out there to be found and collected.  The picture with the flowers has the flowers being held up by one of my flower frogs.
Row 1
- A larger and smaller green metal flower frog.
- These I believe are Fenton flower frogs.
Row 2
- Pink ceramic flower frog.
- Clear glass flower frogs.
Row 3
- Amber glass flower frogs.
- Black glass flower frog.
Row 4
- Glass flower frogs in holders.
- Green glass flower frogs.

I was going through a local second hand store when I found this Pyrex Lemonade container.  Unfortunately the lid was missing.  I'm on a hunt for a lid.

'Fall, Leaves, Fall'
Fall, leaves, fall, die, flowers away,
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow,
I shall sing when night's decay
Ushers in a drearier day.

From the family collection:
This fireplace is from the family cabin built in the early 1940's by my grandparents.  My grandfather hauled the stone for this fireplace from the rock quarry a couple of miles down the beach from the cabin.  In the fall this fireplace plus a wood burning stove would heat the cabin.  We no longer have the cabin but I have many good memories of my time spent at it.

A Dress Mannequin, Pyrex And Paperweights

This weekend I didn't go to any garage sales Saturday or flea markets on Sunday.  I refused to get up when my boyfriend's alarm went off at 6:30 a.m. to get out there.  I just couldn't do it.  I got up at 8:30 a.m. and got some much needed housework done.  The following pictures are of finds I haven't had time to post till now.

This dress mannequin was a flea market find I got the body part and the base but it was short the pole in between.

Now we have a pole and it's standing tall.

My boyfriend found this piece of Daisy Pyrex for me.  It's a 80 oz. oval casserole dish with lid.

It looks like it was never used it was still in the original box.

This paperweight was a gift from my boyfriend.  It's signed on the bottom Edinburgh.  I'm not sure who made it all I know is it was made in Scotland.

These paperweights are part of my collection and unsigned.  I have a hard time not buying paperweights when I see them.

A Project Finished And A Mix Of Finds

I'm finely finished a project I was going to do since April and have a mix of finds to show.

The key holder project is an idea I finally made time for and just got it done.  My boyfriend likes to fish so it felt like a good fit.  Once I had my supplies and the board cut to size stained and varnished it only took minutes.  I then hammered in the nails hung the fishing scales on and mounted it on the wall and hung the keys on.

1st Row - Royal Canadian Mountie doll and a pot metal Elk.
Picture taken of the Fraser River near Hell's Gate, British Columbia.

2nd Row- Yellow pot by Dansk Design France.  This was a flea market find as I was walking around different people tried to buy it off me.  I held tight to it.
Vintage Melamine egg cup holders and a painted egg.

3rd Row - This powder compact is by Fleur De Glorie Talcum Puff Co. New York, U.S.A.
My sister bought me this Delft ornament in Holland while they were on vacation.
4th Row - This paperweight like so many I have is unsigned. Pyrex Casserole dishes the bottom one is Blossom 1 and the top one is Blossom 2.

This Pyrex dish is called Early American, the lid is missing so I'm on the hunt for another lid.

Thanks for visiting.

Road Trip To Kamloops, British Columbia

We took a day away from the home reno's a couple of weeks ago to head up to Kamloops.  We started out early Wednesday morning the weather was lovely traffic was light a good day for a day trip.  We enjoyed going to the antique and second hand stores.  Had a pleasant lunch and were heading home around mid afternoon.  It was nice to get away from home for a short time.

This collage is of the old court house that we took some time to explore.

The picture of the street was taken from a window in the court house.  The plant picture was taken across the street from the court house in front of a business.

The light blue cup and saucer is Pyrex which is called Cremax which came out after World War Two.  I had the cup which I found at an earlier time but I found the matching saucer on the trip.  The 1950 Pyrex milk glass cup and saucer with the turquoise stripes was also found on this trip.  The one with the lime stripe was found at an earlier time closer to home.

My boyfriend found this piece of orange Pyrex which I believe is a small casserole dish on the trip and bought it for me to add to my collection.
